Employer's Responsibilities

The Access To Work program provides many options for disabled people. Some options include:

• Providing a support worker to assist someone who needs help getting to and from place of work
• Adapting equipment or providing new equipment (e.g. chair, desk)
• Adapting premises or the working environment (e.g. installing alarm systems or a lift)
• Changing your working hours
• Providing a communicator for people with hearing difficulties
• Providing a reader for someone with visual difficulties
• Adapting a vehicle or help towards taxi fares or other transport costs for someone having difficulty getting around
• Transferring certain duties to other employees
All that is required of you is that you show the changes are necessary for you to work effectively and productively
